Physical,Thermal and Biological Properties of Yellow Dyes with Two Azodiphenylether Groups of Anthracene

Two yellow bis-azo dyes containing anthracene and two azodiphenylether groups (BPA and BTA) were prepared, and an extensive investigation of their physical, thermal and biological properties was carried out. The chemical structure was confirmed by the FTIR spectra, while from the UV–Vis spectra, the quantum efficiency of the laser fluorescence at the 476.5 nm was determined to be 0.33 (BPA) and 0.50 (BTA). The possible transitions between the energy levels of the electrons of the chemical elements were established, identifying the energies and the electronic configurations of the levels of transition. Both crystals are anisotropic, the optical phenomenon of double refraction of polarized light (birefringence) taking place. Images of maximum illumination and extinction were recorded when the crystals of the bis-azo compounds rotated by 90° each, which confirms their birefringence. A morphologic study of the thin films deposited onto glass surfaces was performed, proving the good adhesion of both dyes. By thermal analysis and calorimetry, the melting temperatures were determined (~224–225 °C for both of them), as well as their decomposition pathways and thermal effects (enthalpy variations during undergoing processes); thus, good thermal stability was exhibited. The interaction of the two compounds with collagen in the suede was studied, as well as their antioxidant activity, advocating for good chemical stability and potential to be safely used as coloring agents in the food industry.     

Topological Classification and Structural Stability of Strongly Continuous Groups

The present paper is devoted to the study of some qualitative properties of C ₀-groups via topological equivalence, also called conjugacy. The special case of the evolution groups is analysed. We show that hyperbolicity implies structural stability. Our constructions improve existing similar results for groups with bounded generators, and apply to linear differential equations with unbounded coefficient operator.     

Exploiting the Massey Gap

In this paper, we find new refinements to the Massey inequality, which relates the Shannon and guessing entropies, introducing a new concept: the Massey gap. By shrinking the Massey gap, we improve all previous work without introducing any new parameters, providing closed-form strict refinements, as well as a numerical procedure improving them even further.     

The Role of Information in Managing Interactions from a Multifractal Perspective

In the framework of the multifractal hydrodynamic model, the correlations informational entropy–cross-entropy manages attractive and repulsive interactions through a multifractal specific potential. The classical dynamics associated with them imply Hubble-type effects, Galilei-type effects, and dependences of interaction constants with multifractal degrees at various scale resolutions, while the insertion of the relativistic amendments in the same dynamics imply multifractal transformations of a generalized Lorentz-type, multifractal metrics invariant to these transformations, and an estimation of the dimension of the multifractal Universe. In such a context, some correspondences with standard cosmologies are analyzed. Since the same types of interactions can also be obtained as harmonics mapping between the usual space and the hyperbolic plane, two measures with uniform and non-uniform temporal flows become functional, temporal measures analogous with Milne’s temporal measures in a more general manner. This work furthers the analysis published recently by our group in “Towards Interactions through Information in a Multifractal Paradigm”.

Covariant Representations for Matrix-valued Transfer Operators

Motivated by the multivariate wavelet theory, and by the spectral theory of transfer operators, we construct an abstract affine structure and a multiresolution associated to a matrix-valued weight. We describe the one-to-one correspondence between the commutant of this structure and the fixed points of the transfer operator. We show how the covariant representation can be realized on if the weight satisfies some low-pass condition.      

Thermal behaviour of some dibenzobicyclo[2.2.2]octane derivatives

A number of dibenzobicyclo[2.2.2]octane derivatives have been studied due to the interest of such compounds as ligands for coordination compounds with potential biological activity. Their thermal behaviour has been analyzed in order to find out more information about their fragmentation. A connection between the bridge substituents and the fragmentation process has been observed.
